Brightmore is Wellen Park's first 55 and older neighborhood, built by Mattamy Homes in Venice, Florida. It is designed around a new amenity center on roughly 11 acres, and the homes are villas and single family plans on one story, built for people who want the yard work and the upkeep handled.
Neighborhood overview
Floor plans generally run from about 1,400 to 2,500 square feet, two to three bedrooms, two car garages, all single story. The amenity center opened in early 2026 and is the social center of the neighborhood, with a resort pool, fitness and wellness space, pickleball and bocce, and a lifestyle calendar that fills up fast. Because it sits inside Wellen Park, residents also get Downtown Wellen, the lake, the trail network, and the farmers market a few minutes from the front gate.
Buying in Brightmore
Almost everything here is new construction, which means the real decisions are the homesite, the plan, the structural options you cannot add later, and the timeline. I know the Mattamy team, I know which lots and plans have been moving, and I ask the questions buyers do not know to ask, including what incentives are attached to a specific home and what happens if your closing date slips. Representation costs you nothing extra with the builder, and it means someone is reading the contract on your side.

A 55 and older community with maintenance included is one of the easier setups to own from out of state, but you still need a plan for who checks the house, how insurance is structured, and what the total yearly cost is beyond the mortgage.
